I encourage students especially to make use of the Encyclopedia Judaica (EJ) to prepare for class. It is a great resource for reviewing contextual information on people and concepts. The EJ is not to be confused with the Jewish Encyclopedia (JE), which is in the public domain; while a masterpiece of 19th-century early academic Jewish Studies, it is outdated and must be utilized knowledgeably. (The JE is the source for much of the medieval Jewish material on Wikipedia.)
